Made Me Laugh

Today I saw a freshman standing in the rain under a maple tree with his hands in the pockets of his Dockers. He was looking up into the rain at the golden leaves all-romantic-like, when a housekeeper walking by, huddled under her umbrella, blurted out; "If you're standin' there to keep from gettin' wet it ain't gonna work." The freshman looked over at her quickly, blushing, of course, and said rather curtly, "I know." He then turned back to his leaves and rain, and the woman laughed at him. I, on the other hand, was polite enough to hold it in until I was out of earshot.
