Two Days

Today we are going to pick up the tent. Not everyone will fit seated in the basement of the church, so I rented a tent and eight tables and sixty-four chairs.

Tomorrow people begin to arrive. People I haven't seen in a long time. People I thought I would never see again. People I have never met. People I wish I could spend more time with. I wish we could have a two day party-tastic reception.

I think the reason why so many bloggers stop blogging when they get married, or begin blogging in a different way is not so much that they are too busy making a new life with their spouse (i.e. doing it), or that they are too caught up in the real life (as opposed to internet life) at hand, but rather that they are desperately trying to grow up. They are attempting to make themselves feel like married adults.

It probably works really well. It probably gives them a taste of pride in their own self-discipline, a taste of accomplishment, growth, maturity.

I'm interested to see what kind of pressure there is on me to grow up. This post is pretty good evidence.

But I think I'll "blog" forever.

Help! Honeymoon driving music in jeopardy!

iTunes told me to update my version of iTunes, so I did, and now when I try to open iTunes a little window, titled "Newer Version of QuickTime Required" pops up an says

"QuickTime version 7.1 is installed, iTunes requires QuickTime version 7.1.3 or later. Please reinstall iTunes."

So I did.

And I still get the same message. Help!

In other musical news: When we were in Austin we saw Lomita on 6th street. They're sweet.

"But who's counting?"*

When one has only twelve days left of one's bachelorhood one tends to fell, well, pretty much like one always feels. I'm starting to realize have definitely realized for a while now that getting married is just like every other "major event" of one's life (ya know, a rite of passage). That is, there is a whole bunch of crap that needs to be thought of, planned, reserved, prepared for for a long-ass time and then it is all over. This "major event" is usually a pretty festive occasion for all involved except the one that it is about of course, because for him (me) it is just another anticlimactic weekend to be remembered by glossy photographs behind the sticky transparent flaps of a photo album page. But before the album is even put together one must be prepared to be let down...into another comfortable and unremarkable routine of shitting, eating, and sleeping.

On another note (I'll give fifty bucks to the person that travels back in a time machine and popularizes a different way to express the sentiment expressed by "on another note" to such an extent that I will be able to think of it now and avoid saying "note.") I have been really surprised by how many people are coming to the wedding. You guys are obviously either 1) making a bigger deal out of my wedding day ceremonies than I am, or 3) coming for the food, and/or 3) the beer (a keg of Founders provided by Hugger and a homebrewed clone of Old Speckled Hen courtesy of Caleb. Thanks dudes)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing you all there, and though I expect to post again before the wedding just in case I don't I just want to let you all know that this is my last post

as a single dude

...as if I haven't been whipped for years and it would therefore make a difference.

*If one more person asks who is counting after I tell them how many days are left before our wedding I'm going to pass out from sheer ecstatic pleasure.
